TIM Lecture: Growing a global company anchored on open source software
This presentation will examine the successes, challenges, and lessons learned from building a global company anchored on open source software that emerged from Carleton University in 2008.
Creating an open source project and building a company that sells into the community is a disruptive business model. It is a difficult one to accomplish. The BigBlueButton project (open source web conferencing) is now localized into 35 languages with 98% of downloads occurring outside of Canada. Blindside Networks is a company that has been a core committer to BigBlueButton from the beginning.
Our speaker is Fred Dixon, the CEO, Blindside Networks.
This event is open to all. It will be held in room ME 3275, Mackenzie Building, Carleton University on Thu, Sep 13, from 6-9pm. Parking lot P2 is the closest (map).
